Peak StatisticsHistogram Peak Statistics

The Histogram Peak Statistics tool generates a set of statistics based on the highest peak analyzed by a histogram tool.

Using the Histogram Peak Statistics Tool

Drag a histogram tool onto the inputs page of the Histogram Peak Statistics tool.

When the Histogram Peak Statistics tool is run the statistics for the highest peak will be displayed in the tool's parameters page.

Setting the Parameters

The StartIndex is value that the Histogram Statistics tool will use as its lowest value when collecting data from the histogram.  The EndIndex is the highest value that will be collected from the histogram.  The Peak Statistics tool will only use data whose values fall between the StartIndex and EndIndex.  If the EndIndex is set to -1 it will default to the highest recorded value.

The Smoothing is the amount of smoothing applied to the histogram.

The PercentHeight value on the tool's parameters page sets the size of the peak to be measured.  For example, if the PercentHeight is set to 75 then only the top 25% of each peak will be analyzed.

The Statistics

Mean: The average value within the peak.

Mode: The highest point on the peak.

Mass: The area of the peak.

PeakMiddle: The center value of the entire range of the peak.

PeakMass: Finds the area of the peak then determines where the center would be based on the area, assuming the inclines on either side of the peak were even.

PeakValley: Ignores the PercentHeight and finds the valley on either side of the peak and then gives the center value between the two valleys.

Minimum: The smallest value within the peak.

Maximum: The largest value within the peak.

Spread: The difference between the Minimum and Maximum values.

StartValley: The value of the valley before the peak (ignores PercentHeight).

EndValley: The value of the valley after the peak (ignores PercentHeight).
